TREATMENT PROCESS

Step 1: Eligibility & Evaluation

You must be diagnosed with opioid use disorder (OUD) by a doctor.
You must first stabilize on a daily dose of buprenorphine (like Suboxone) for at least 7 days before switching to Sublocade.
A doctor will review your medical history, opioid use, and treatment goals.

Step 2: Induction Phase (Starting Sublocade)

Some people stay on naltrexone long-term for relapse prevention.
Others gradually transition off while maintaining therapy & support systems.
Healthy lifestyle choices play a key role in sustaining sobriety.

Step 3: First Sublocade Injection

Sublocade is given as an under-the-skin (subcutaneous) injection in the stomach once a month.
It forms a gel-like deposit under the skin, which slowly releases buprenorphine over the month.
The standard starting dose is 300 mg for the first two months.

Step 4: Maintenance Phase

After two months, the doctor may reduce the dose to 100 mg per month or keep it at 300 mg if needed.
The goal is to prevent withdrawal and cravings without daily medication.
No need for daily Suboxone pills or films!

Step 5: Long-Term Treatment & Tapering (Optional)

Patients can stay on Sublocade long-term or gradually taper when ready.
If stopping, the doctor will slowly lower the dose to prevent withdrawal.
